Leading golf marketing specialists, Azalea, has appointed Alex Narey as Head of Content and Media.
Narey joins from Golf Monthly and Future Publishing, where he has been working on a freelance basis since leaving his role as a senior journalist on the Telegraph’s sports desk last year.
With more than 20 years’ experience in digital and print media, Narey will join Azalea’s senior management group where he will have overall responsibility for the company’s media and content team to ensure consistent and creative output across the agency’s portfolio of clients.
Having started his journalism career in the regional Press, Narey has worked on national newspapers, magazines, digital, social and video while also bringing a wealth of experience in client creative solutions.
He was managing editor of Golf Monthly from 2008 to 2015, where he oversaw the day-to-day running of IPC Media’s award-winning magazine while also helping to drive its digital growth across desktop, tablet and mobile. During his time with Golf Monthly, he functioned as the brand’s specialist travel editor creating bespoke content for some of the world’s leading golf resorts.
Narey said: “I am delighted to be taking on this fresh challenge which comes with such an exciting role. Having worked alongside Azalea for a number of years, I understand their passion for golf and have first-hand experience of how they work closely with their clients and partners to create exciting brand and media campaigns.
“I cannot wait to get started. This is a great opportunity for me to join such a talented team. I feel my experience can help Azalea on their journey as golf continues to enjoy its fighting return to form after the gruelling effects of the pandemic. It is a fresh challenge, but one where I believe I can showcase my skills to help the company write a new chapter in its success story.”
Sean Noble, Azalea’s managing director, added: “We are so pleased to have secured somebody of Alex’s calibre to head up our content and media division, ensuring Azalea continues to successfully deliver engaging client solutions across the ever-changing communication and marketing landscape.”
Azalea has established itself as one of Europe’s leading golf and tourism agencies since launching in 2006, working with world-class courses, resorts and tourist boards including Tourism Ireland, Costa Navarino, Quinta do Lago, Turnberry, London Golf Club and Foxhills.
Narey will take up his new position with immediate effect.
