The QHotels Collection have welcomed Alan Tait back to their Glasgow Westerwood Spa and Golf Resort as head of golf, having acted in the same position at the Scottish venue back in the 1990s.
The QHotels Collection have welcomed Alan Tait back to their Glasgow Westerwood Spa and Golf Resort as head of golf, having acted in the same position at the Scottish venue back in the 1990s.
Starting in March, Tait will lean on his vast experience in the field of Scottish golf, having spent more than 30 years as the director of golf at a number of well-renowned Scottish venues.
Still a player in regular pro-am tournaments as a PGA Professional, Tait has been bought into further develop the golf offering at Glasgow Westerwood, which with the help of major investment by owners, The QHotels Collection, has the potential to really stand out in the Scottish market.
The only golf resort run by The QHotels Collection in Scotland, Glasgow Westerwood has a 6,307-yard course which was designed by the legendary Dave Thomas and the late two-time Masters winner, Seve Ballesteros.
Tait said: “I am absolutely delighted to be returning to Glasgow Westerwood and can’t wait to get going, I had seven very happy years there and look back at my time with great fondness and pride, as we really helped get the business back on track.
The golf course has always had great potential and with recent investment, I look forward to helping improve the facilities and the course. With such a fantastic team in place, it promises to be a great journey ahead.”
Glasgow Westerwood’s general manager, Joe Gallacher, said: “It’s great for us to be working alongside and utilising Alan’s services and I’m really looking forward to working with him. Alan knows the business very well and his past experience will be a key part of developing the resort and will provide innovative input on all elements of the golf here.
Tait, with his existing deep knowledge of the resort, will also work alongside the young golfers at Glasgow Westerwood, further developing his ongoing role as an ambassador for GolPhin for Kids, a programme that uses golf to develop crucial skills in young people.
