Belton Woods Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort will become the latest of The QHotels Collection’s venues to play host to the 2022 PGA EuroPro Tour, when it welcomes The CPG Classic to the challenging Lakes Course in Lincolnshire this week.
The event, which takes place between July 13-15 and will be supporting England and Wales Blind Golf, is the second of three tournaments that the UK’s largest developmental golf tour is staging in partnership with The QHotels Collection, which was named as the tour’s official hotel partner for 2022.
Belton Woods – which is home to the oldest PGA tournament in the world, the Midlands PGA Championships – offers a pair of 18-hole championship courses, including the Lakes Course, which the tour players will try to tame.
The course is renowned for its tight fairways, small greens, numerous water hazards and fearsome ninth hole, a 609-yard par-five which tests even the biggest hitters.
One of the most competitive golf tours in Europe, the PGA EuroPro Tour arrives at Belton Woods fresh from their sixth different winner in as many events, as Pavan Sagoo put together a masterful final-day 63 to grab victory last time out at The PDC Championship.
The win moved him up to second place in the 2022 Order of Merit, as the players compete throughout the season to claim a Challenge Tour spot for 2023.
Keith Pickard, The QHotels Collection’s golf, leisure and spa director, said: “We are very excited to be welcoming the PGA EuroPro Tour back to another of our championship venues, and we know that they are going to put on an incredible show for those in attendance.
“As part of our partnership with the tour, we have already seen what these immensely talented players can do when they get out on the course, and we look forward to seeing how best they can attack and use Belton Woods to play some stunning golf.”
