Las Colinas Golf & Country Club is leading the way towards protecting the health and wellbeing of its clients, after receiving “Protected Brain Space” certification from the Freno al Ictus Foundation. This certifies that all members of Las Colinas Golf & Country Club staff are trained to detect the signs of stroke and act quickly and effectively in the event of a stroke occurring on site.
The golf resort has become the first in Spain to achieve this certification. All employees, through online training, will be able to make a difference by sounding the alarm and implementing the Stroke Code protocol, consequently becoming the “first link” in the chain for survival of a stroke.
Las Colinas Golf & Country Club have committed themselves to an intensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy that is being implemented across all management levels, with a focus on the environment and people’s wellbeing at the centre of it. This new certification for “Protected Brain Space” is the latest in the long list of actions that the resort has undertaken.
Javier Rodriguez, head of operations at Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, said: “This project means intensifying the commitment of Las Colinas Golf & Country Club for the health and well-being of people, in both its own team, and all visitors. The health and well-being of people is something we have been working on for years as a part of the framework of our ambitious CSR policy.”
The Freno al Ictus Foundation was founded in 2019, with the aim to reduce the impact of strokes in Spain, by offering outreach actions for the public and private companies. Their objective is to certify that staff are trained to act fast and efficiently in response to stroke.
“Protected Brain Space” is a certification obtained through online training. The training content has been developed with the collaboration of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN) through its Study Group of Cerebrovascular Diseases (GEECV) and is part of the “Brain Caring People” project which has been endorsed by scientists.
It is estimated that one in six people will suffer a stroke in their lifetime, and it is the first cause of disability in adults. Up to 90% of strokes are preventable and a quick response time is vital towards reducing their effects.
Nestled in a 330-hectare valley south of Alicante, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club has made a name for itself as one of the continent’s most sought-after golf, residential and real estate destinations. Just a 50-minute drive from Alicante airport, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club offers a wide selection of villas, apartments and penthouses to buy.
This exclusive gated community therefore benefits even more by achieving Protected Brain Space certification, on behalf of everyone living, working and visiting the resort.
