Pin Vision, the burgeoning GPS app that provides golfers with precise distances to the flag, has unveiled another major new feature to kick off the Italian brand’s biggest year yet.
Provided in a free update to all Pin Vision users in January, the ‘Explore’ function is an interactive map displaying more than 16,500 golf clubs across five countries, making it easier than ever for golfers to decide where to play their next round.
By zooming in and out around the globe (powered by American software brand Mapbox), players can filter courses based on the number of holes or whether they are a Pin Vision partner.
Users can even search for clubs by name on the ‘Explore’ tab, where Pin Vision plans to add hotels as well as golf courses by summer 2025.
Luigi Goria, co-founder and COO of Pin Vision, said: “We are always looking for more ways to improve the experience for all of our users.
“While our GPS software is the backbone of Pin Vision, we want to help players get more out of golf in as many ways as possible, which is why we’ve introduced the Explore tab to help find great venues near you, wherever you are.”
The ‘Explore’ functions joins Pin Vision’s ever-growing list of innovative new features, which includes both helpful functions for players and management tools for golf clubs. Club staff can send notifications to players and track pace of play to identify areas of improvement; golfers can take advantage of a virtual scorecard as they plot their way around the course.
Founded in Italy, the popular app expanded into the UK last year and is now bringing its service to Portugal – including the Dunas Course at Terras da Comporta, widely regarded as one of the best courses in Europe since opening in 2023.
At the Dunas Course – like all Pin Vision partner clubs – players can instantly read the exact distance from their ball to the pin or a hazard from anywhere on the course, helping them to select the right club every time. Greenkeepers can easily update the app every time they move each hole to ensure information is always correct.
Goria continued: “We take pride in the incredible venues we partner with and it’s an honour to welcome the Dunas Course to the Pin Vision network. This course deserves its title as one of the best new layouts in the world and now with Pin Vision you can make better decisions throughout your round – and hopefully shoot an even lower score!”
The Dunas Course joins 2023 Ryder Cup host venue Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, who became a Pin Vision partner last year, in the fast-growing list of world-class European venues to offer full Pin Vision functionality.
Clubs across the UK including Mill Hill, Westerham and Woldingham have also become Pin Vision partners, with further venues joining on a trial basis at the start of 2025.
