Toptracer was initially founded as a technology designed to track the flight of a golf ball using a new kind of camera with specialist sensors that could detect the ball as it flew through the air. Toptracer’s founder, Daniel Forsgren, initially named the company Protracer, and became a household name as the world’s biggest golf broadcasters began adopting the technology for their TV coverage.
In 2012, Protracer launched its first range technology prototype, and as they say; the rest is history. The system itself uses the exact same technology as consumers see on TV, and could be installed at driving ranges to trace and analyse shots hit by any ordinary golfer.
In 2016, Topgolf acquired Protracer, and has since rebranded as Toptracer. The driving range technology has revolutionised the way viewers experience the game at select Topgolf venues, driving ranges and while watching major golf tournaments. It gives golfers access to premium technology at the touch of a button, and offers the chance to bring new levels of insight and enjoyment to the driving range experience.
Today, Toptracer technology powers over 550 Toptracer Range driving ranges in 31 countries, and sits comfortably as the global market leader in the driving range technology industry.
